Over 60 countries to take part in World Congress of Russian Press in Paris
MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) – Representatives of more than 60 countries, including Belarus, will take part in the 18th World Congress of Russian Press which is to kick off in Paris on 19 October. According to the World Association of Russian Press, the major themes of the forthcoming three-day discussion will include the role of the Russian-speaking media as the field of international cultural mutual enrichment and cooperation, and also the development of cooperation in the media space amid the modern global challenges, BelTA has learned.
The congress will gather directors and leading journalists of 500 mass media outlets as well as members of professional journalistic associations and unions. Among the participants will also be state and public figures, politicians, scientists and UNESCO members.
The World Association of Russian Press (WARP) is a universal union of Russian-speaking journalists and publishers. The association was founded in 1999. Today the Russian-speaking media operate in more than 80 countries. The majority of them makes part of the WARP or cooperates with the organization.
In 2013 the World Congress of Russian Press was held in Belarus. The forum was also hosted by the United States, Ukraine, Germany, Bulgaria, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Israel, Italy, China and other countries.
