At JSC Yakubovo-Agro, weight gains during rearing and fattening of bulls are stable
At JSC Yakubovo-Agro, the weight gains during rearing and fattening of bulls are stable - about half a kilogram per day. The farm has two cattle fattening farms - in Andrianovo and Barsuki. The total number of cattle fattening at the farm is 750 heads. We visited a small farm in Andrianovo.
There are 240 bulls here. The premises are not new, but last year they were overhauled: the wiring was replaced, the roof was re-roofed and new slate was laid. This year, such repairs were planned for the second barn, but the July hurricane made its own adjustments to the work schedule. All efforts were directed to the damaged MTF in Chizhovka, but this premises will also be repaired, and the animals will winter in the renovated premises.
Experienced livestock breeder Vasily Ivanov has large, clean, well-groomed bulls. The bulls have plenty of space and are dry. And this is one of the reasons for the high weight gain, which is the main indicator in this business.
— The bulls here are aged from 6 months to two years, the weight of the latter reaches up to 450 kilograms, — says the chief livestock specialist of the enterprise Natalya Kuskova. — For the second year in a row, we have been growing and adding millet to the feed, it is very helpful in unpredictable weather conditions and always gives a good result. For example, the average daily weight gain here is 560 grams.
— Of course, feeding is a very important component of high weight gain. But the microclimate in the premises is no less important. Cattle in general, and bulls in particular, are afraid of dampness and drafts. But, at the same time, fresh air is essential for them. The animals do not require special care: water is supplied through a drinker, food — through a feeder, manure is removed automatically. My task is to deliver concentrates, clean, groom, examine the animals. If necessary, inform the veterinarian about the animal's condition. Working with them is easy on the one hand, and difficult on the other. For example, calves aged 6 to 12 months need less compound feed than adult bulls. Two-year-olds require more attention, they know their territory, so you have to take into account the nature of each of them, — shared Vasily Ivanov.
— Everything depends on the quality of the livestock breeder’s work. Vasily Ivanov knows his business thoroughly. He can solve any problem that arises himself, — the head of the agricultural enterprise Natalya Shendrik characterized the livestock breeder and added that today her farm employs conscientious, hardworking workers who care about the common cause. It is thanks to the entire team that OAO Yakubovo-Agro achieves good results.
