Belarus harvests 2 million tonnes of grain
MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) - Belarusian agrarians have already cropped over 2 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 6 August, Belarus’ grain harvest exceeded 2.1 million tonnes. Brest Oblast harvested 684,700 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 480,800 tonnes. Minsk Oblast and Mogilev Oblast cropped 427,400 and 185,900 tonnes each. The harvest of Grodno Oblast reached 356,300 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 54,100 tonnes.
A total of 622.700 hectares, or 27.6%, of areas under crops have been harvested in the country. As of today, Brest Oblast remains the leader: the region has cropped 55.4% of the total area.
This year, the average yield makes up 35.2 centners per hectare.
