Belstat published the results of the crop production sector for 2023
The National Statistical Committee has published the results of the plant growing industry last year, reports BELTA.
The total sown area of agricultural crops in 2023 in farms of all categories (agricultural organizations, peasant (farmer) farms, households) amounted to 5756 thousand hectares. Agricultural organizations accounted for 92% of the total sown area, peasant (farmer) farms - 3.7%, households - 4.3%.
In 2023, farms of all categories threshed 7.7 million tons of grain (in weight after tillage) with an average yield of 33.2 c/ha. In terms of grain production, Minsk Oblast is the leader (1.9 million tons, or 24.6% of total production in the country).
In 2023, 4 million tons of potatoes will be harvested in farms of all categories. From one hectare of harvested area 248 cwt were obtained.Gross sugar beet harvest in 2023 amounted to 4.8 million tons with an average yield of 477 cwt/ha.
In 2023, 37.2 thousand tons of flax fiber was produced, with 8.5 cwt per hectare of harvested area.
Vegetables were harvested 2.8 million tons with an average yield of 298 c/ha.
In the protected ground 105 thousand tons of vegetables were produced, or 3.8% of the total production. The share of tomatoes accounted for 58.2%, cucumbers - 40% and other vegetables - 1.8% in the structure of vegetables production in the protected ground.
Minsk region is the leader in terms of production of vegetables in the protected ground. In 2023, the region produced 46 thousand tons of vegetables, or 43.8% of the total production in the country, including 27.7 thousand tons of tomatoes (45.4%) and 16.9 thousand tons of cucumbers (40.2%).
