Aliyev: de facto peace already exists between Azerbaijan and Armenia

There is already de facto peace between Baku and Yerevan. This was stated by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the press service of the head of state reported.
The Azerbaijani leader, at a meeting with the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong, noted that peace had actually been established between Azerbaijan and Armenia; a peaceful situation had been observed on the border of the two states for several months.
“But in order to bring this process to its logical conclusion, it is necessary to sign a peace treaty and put an end to Armenia’s territorial claims against Azerbaijan,” Ilham Aliyev said.
As the President of Azerbaijan indicated, peace between Baku and Yerevan can be achieved after amendments are made to the Constitution of Armenia and other legal documents. Stressing the importance of the speedy implementation of these changes, the head of state said that the start of internal discussions on this issue in Armenia is a positive step, which could create a good opportunity for the speedy completion of the peace process.
