Winter barley harvest complete in Belarus

Belarus has completed the winter barley harvest, the Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

As of 24 July, cereals and leguminous crops (excluding corn, buckwheat and millet) were harvested from the area of 240,700 hectares, which is 12.2% of the designated area. 847,100 tonnes of grain were threshed, with the average yield at 35.2 centners per hectare.

Winter rapeseed to be used as grain was gathered from 154,500ha of land or 46.4% of the designated area, with 350,200 tonnes threshed (the average yield at 22.7 centners per hectare).

Flax was pulled from 14,600ha, which is 33.5% of the area under this crop. After harvesting cereal and leguminous crops straw was harvested on an area of 147,900 hectares, or 61.4%.

Belarusian agricultural workers made 366,900 tonnes of hay (38.1% of the target), 8,267,900 tonnes of haylage (60.4%), including 276,900 tonnes in polymeric packaging, 379,600 tonnes of grain haylage, and 202,300 tonnes of silage (1.05%).

Plans have been made to make a total of 9.6 million tonnes of feed units out of grass this year. So far 26.2% of the targeted amount has been made. Belarusian agricultural workers are supposed to stock up on nearly 19.2 million tonnes of silage, 13.7 million tonnes of haylage (including 1 million tonnes in polymeric packaging), and 962,100 tonnes of hay.
