Vitebsk Zoo has a new addition: baby raccoons were born
Raccoons that were born in the Vitebsk zoo, my mother carefully begins to let out of the house. Despite the fact that they were born on July 17, even zookeepers themselves were able to see them only recently. Mama raccoon jealously guarded her cubs from prying eyes. Even the raccoon dad fell out of favor with her, who now has to move only along the route allocated by the "spouse" at certain times.
By the way, striped raccoons are also difficult to see because they are nocturnal. They are active in the evening or in the morning. But even what visitors can see through the door of the house in the aviary is touching: funny babies with round ears sniff peacefully, buried in their mother's tummy.
- Cubs of the striped raccoon are born small, blind and deaf, but with characteristic "glasses" on their cute faces, - says the director of the zoo Irina Orlova. - They feed on their mother's milk and grow quickly. They already try food from the adult diet: they lick vegetables and fruits, fish and meat.
Interestingly, the offspring of a pair of raccoons living in the zoo for the third year appeared for the first time. If in the wild the usual life expectancy of polosunovs is two to three years, then in the "old" age they just became parents.
