In the Vitebsk region, 49 cases of salary payments in an envelope were revealed in January-September

"The tax authorities of the Vitebsk region carry out control measures on an ongoing basis aimed at identifying and preventing cases of payment of wages in envelopes. Based on the results of the inspections carried out for 9 months of 2023, 74 facts of non-payment of income tax from individuals were established, including 49 facts as a result of salary payments in an envelope. Income tax was presented for payment to the budget in the total amount of Br6.8834 million,” the inspectorate said.

As for the results of the desk audit conducted by the inspectorates of the Ministry of Taxes of the Vitebsk Region, 1,584 notifications were sent to payers over 9 months with a proposal to adjust tax obligations on a voluntary basis. According to the updated tax returns submitted by payers, the amount of additional tax paid to the budget amounted to Br16.9 million, and the amount of value added tax subject to refund from the budget was also reduced in the amount of Br11.6 million.
