Number of Chinese students triples in Belarus in last five years
Belarusian Education Minister Andrei Ivanets and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan discussed the most promising areas of cooperation during a meeting in Minsk on 17 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Education Ministry.
At the meeting, the Chinese side expressed interest in promoting cooperation in education, science and youth policy. "We have established effective inter-university ties. Over the past five years, the number of students from China studying in Belarus has tripled. Currently there are over 12,000 of students. Centers for the study of the Belarusian language and culture are very popular in China," the ministry said.
During the last two years, the bilateral agenda featured five meetings of the education ministries of Belarus and China, two meetings of Chinese-Belarusian Association of Universities, a forum of rectors of leading universities of Belarus and China in Minsk, the 7th Meeting of the Educational Cooperation Sub-Committee of China-Belarus Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee in Beijing and Dalian.
