Flower ceremonies at war memorials across Belarus ahead of Independence Day

In the run-up to Belarus' Independence Day, members of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union will lay flowers to the monuments, obelisks and war cemeteries across the country, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union Dmitry Voronyuk told BelTA.

According to him, the BRSM Youth Union has enthusiastically supported the initiative of Belarusian pioneers to lay flowers at the memorials of military glory. "We liked this impulse to commemorate and thank the liberators who sacrificed their lives during the Great Patriotic War in such a simple and sincere way. Flowers always embody kind-heartedness, purity of the heart and warmth. This is very symbolic," Dmitry Voronyuk said.

The youth marathon 75 is nearing completion. It was held across Belarus, all places of combat glory to make the canvass "Belarus Remembers" and compile the album "Belarus Remembers. Dear Faces of Victory". The canvass represents a 6x12 meter large Belarusian flag with names of 484 Belarus-born Heroes of the Soviet Union and full cavaliers of the Order of the Fatherland, participants of the Great Patriotic War. The campaign proposed by the pioneers will be one of the brightest pages of this marathon. Every Belarusian can join the youth initiative.
