Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions opens in St. Petersburg

The 6th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia opens in St. Petersburg on 16 July. The official delegation of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus comprises 250 people, BelTA has learned.

The main activities of the Forum of Regions are scheduled for 17 July. The panel discussions will address the issues of the common educational, cultural and informational space, humanitarian projects, cooperation of regions and other issues. The session of experts will highlight the strategic development of the Union State.

The presidents of Belarus and Russia are expected to attend the plenary session due on 18 July. It will focus on interregional relations as the basis for the development of the common cultural and humanitarian space.

The program also includes the meeting of national business councils which will bring together business representatives from both countries. The Inter-Parliamentary Commission of the Council of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation Council of Russia will take stock of the 5th Forum of Regions which took place in Mogilev and together with representatives of the appropriate agencies will discuss the development of transport capacities and modernization of the infrastructure.

Cooperation agreements between regions of the two countries, commercial contracts, other documents on cooperation will be signed during the forum which will last till 18 July.

Representatives of the youth forum "Youth for the Union State" gathered in St. Petersburg on 15 July. The forum will officially kick off on 16 July with the panel discussions on the youth movement in the Union State and interregional youth cooperation. The focus will be on the positive practice of social support of young professionals and workers and also on the assistance to the development of youth entrepreneurship in the Union State.

A session of the Youth Chamber Council at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State will take place in St Petersburg on 16 July.

Young people are set to adopt a resolution following the forum.
