The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminds you of the need to change your car’s shoes and switch to a winter driving style

Before December 1, you must change your summer tires to winter tires. Not only vehicles should be prepared for the cold: drivers are also advised to switch to a winter, calmer and more careful driving style, they reportedBELTAat the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"Precipitation and the first frosts are expected in most parts of the country in the coming days. Temperature changes with rain, sleet and wind make the road unsafe; sudden icing of the surface is possible. In such conditions, the traction properties of tires deteriorate, and a sharp change in speed and direction of movement can cause skidding "In order to avoid dangerous situations on slippery roads, the traffic police recommends that car owners do not wait until December 1 and change their tires to winter ones," the law enforcement agency noted.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs advises motorists to choose the safest speed and distance under current road conditions, to refrain from making sudden maneuvers and braking, especially near pedestrian crossings and at curved roads, and be sure to buckle up while in a moving car.

Pedestrians, in turn, need to show maximum attention when crossing the roadway. Even at controlled pedestrian crossings, it is recommended to cross the roadway after making sure that drivers have noticed them and are allowing them to pass. In inclement weather, you need to make yourself visible by using reflective elements.

Traffic police squads are ready to provide assistance to road users in difficult weather conditions, the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified.
