Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Igor Sergeenko met with students and staff of the Vitebsk Order of the Badge of Honor State Academy of Veterinary Medicine.
The speaker dwelt in detail on the activities of the legislative body (its composition, main areas of work, 38 bills adopted in a short time). He also informed the audience about the results of the socio-economic development of Belarus over the past year and noted that the Vitebsk region is among the best in terms of efficiency, and this is the merit of all workers and managers.
A number of figures have been named that the country has demonstrated over the 30 years of the presidency. And they are really impressive: during this period, the level of gasification of Belarusian settlements has more than doubled, in rural areas - five times. Belarus is among the top five countries in the world in the supply of dairy products, and the top 15 is meat.
The main advantage of the country was social policy. There are many facts that testify to the standard of living of Belarusians, but it is enough to name two figures and everything will become clear. If in the early 90s the population had 500 thousand cars, now there are more than 3 million. And the work for the benefit of people continues.
The difficulty lies in the fact that you have to work in the conditions of an information war, when with the help of fakes and manipulations, ill-wishers are trying to cast a shadow on the authorities. With interest, the students watched a fragment of the film about how fakes are created, and probably wondered whether they should blindly believe what they read on the Internet.
Many were touched by the short film "Kresty", which the speaker also offered to watch. Speaking about the heroic past, Igor Sergeenko noted that during the Great Patriotic War, 600 thousand Soviet soldiers gave their lives for the liberation of Poland, 400 thousand died defending the Baltic countries, and it is all the more painful that today fascism has been revived there, and the combat potential is building up near the borders of Belarus. That is why the topic of defending the Fatherland and patriotic education is now coming to the fore.
As part of the dialogue with the speaker, students asked him a number of questions that related to both lawmaking and personal life, in particular, raising children.
"It is an honor for us that a guest of such a high level visited the Academy of Veterinary Medicine," Olga Gorlova, Rector of the All-Russian State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, Candidate of Veterinary Sciences, Associate Professor, told the correspondent. "This indicates that much attention is paid to agriculture and specialized education. We are the only institution of higher education in the country that trains veterinarians, so we want to live up to expectations. And after the meeting, the students, I think, will understand how valuable and necessary they are for their native Belarus and how much they can be useful for it in the future.
For information. 3200 students study at the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, including 1700 full-time students. There are four specialties here, but 80 percent of students are future veterinarians.
