A driver was killed in a collision of trucks in the Vitebsk region. The verdict has been passed
The Prosecutor's Office of the Vitebsk region supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 33-year-old resident of Polotsk, who was charged with violating traffic rules while driving a vehicle that caused the death of a person by negligence.
– In February of this year, the accused, in the evening, driving a road train consisting of a DAF FT XF 105.460 truck tractor and a semi–trailer, moving in the direction of Shapura village in the Vitebsk region, incorrectly assessed the road and weather situation, - said Sergey Selikhanov, deputy head of the Vitebsk region Prosecutor's Office department. – He was moving at a speed that did not allow for monitoring the safety of a controlled vehicle, as a result of which he drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with the front of the cab of a VOLVO FH-TRUCK 4x2 truck tractor with a semi-trailer.
As a result of a traffic accident, the driver of a VOLVO FH-TRUCK 4x2 tractor truck died at the scene.
The man was sentenced to imprisonment for 2 years with serving his sentence in a correctional colony in a settlement with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for 5 years.In accordance with the law of the Republic of Belarus "On amnesty in connection with the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders", the accused was released from punishment in the form of imprisonment for a year.
The verdict has not entered into legal force and can be appealed and protested on appeal.
