Russian enterprises now interested in loans in Belarusian rubles

– Russian enterprises now show interest in loans in Belarusian rubles. First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus (DBRB) Roman Brodov mentioned it while talking to reporters in St. Petersburg, BelTA has learned.

In his words, the 14th session of the council for business cooperation between Belarus and St. Petersburg is a peculiar one because all the factors conducive to trade and to the development of the entire spectrum of Belarus’ relations with St. Petersburg are focused in one point. “Such as geopolitical circumstances, the end of the year when purchase volumes for the next year are determined, and mutual interests. Everything indicates that we are meeting at the right time and in the right spot. Trust is another success factor. Thanks to the relations that have been established between Belarus and St. Petersburg over the course of history, we can sit down at the negotiating table right away and tackle as concrete things as possible. I can feel it judging by the meetings we’ve held with enterprises to discuss deliveries of municipal vehicles, buses, trolleybuses, food, and so on,” Roman Brodov said.

He mentioned another important success factor. “Thanks to the monetary management policy pursued by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, our inflation remains very low. We also keep a low level of interest rates on loans that can be granted in Belarusian rubles to buy Belarusian goods. For the first time Russian partners are interested in loans in Belarusian rubles. It is the first time our partners are considering loans in Belarus in the national currency. It is not only a sign of trust in the economic policy we pursue. It is also a truly advantageous tool for both sides,” the first deputy chairman of the Board of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus stressed.

In his words, St. Petersburg enterprises have a strong interest in Belarusian financial tools designed to facilitate export. The city is interested in buying Belarusian machines, equipment, and vehicles, including buses and electrobuses, in addition to food. “During today’s business forum the Development Bank presented its capabilities and the enterprises learned what they can get from the bank as a financial key to future deliveries,” Roman Brodov concluded.

A Belarusian government delegation led by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko is in St. Petersburg. Roman Golovchenko took part in a session of the council for business cooperation between Belarus and St. Petersburg. Visits to industrial facilities and fairs of Belarusian goods in St. Petersburg are also supposed to take place.

Minsk Days are taking place in St. Petersburg on 24-25 October. The program of the event includes a fair of Belarusian enterprises, an exhibition of mechanical engineering products as well as business events and cultural ones.
