Myasnikovich: Belarus eyes cooperation with Austria in pharmaceutical industry

Possibilities of cooperation between Belarus and Austria in the pharmaceutical industry were discussed during a meeting between Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Austrian Ambassador to Belarus Aloisia Worgetter, BelTA learned from the press service of the upper house of the Belarusian Parliament. Mikhail Myasnikovich noted that the options of cooperation in pharmaceutics are many.

“This may be a joint company or an Austrian business joining the China-Belarus Industrial Park as a resident company. It offers comfortable working conditions," he said. The speaker stressed that Belarus would like to see Austrian companies arrive in telecommunications, woodworking and metallurgy and looks forward to more joint projects. The two countries maintain stable, respectful, and partner relations. They are mutually beneficial. Cooperation with Austria has been developing successfully, first of all, thanks to the integrated approach: we develop ties in trade, finance, investment and science. All these mean concrete projects,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted.

The countries hold high expectations of the upcoming visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Austria. “We need to step up contacts at the highest and high levels. I would like these contacts to be regular, aimed at long-term perspective,” Mikhail Myasnikovich added. For her part, Ambassador Aloisia Worgetter noted that the upcoming visit of the head of state to Austria and planned meetings is a good sign for the bilateral relations.

During the talks, the parties discussed the prospects for inter-parliamentary cooperation, humanitarian ties, new projects in science and technology and the possibility of setting up a department of Belarusian language and culture at one of Austrian universities.
