Food, technology and tourism: Belarus and Kamchatka Territory outline cooperation priorities

Belarus and the Kamchatka Territory outlined the priorities of cooperation at the second meeting of the working group on cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Kamchatka Territory of the Russian Federation, which took place today in Minsk, BELTA reports. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Alexey Bogdanov, as the person assigned to the Kamchatka Territory in Belarus, as well as the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kamchatka Territory, Yulia Morozova.According to Yulia Morozova, Belarus and the Kamchatka Territory of Russia have long-standing and good trade and economic relations. “Residents of the Kamchatka Territory know and love, first of all, delicious Belarusian food products. I believe that trade is one of the most promising areas of cooperation. In addition, the niche of non-food products is practically not occupied in our country, and we know and respect Belarusian light industry products, cosmetics," she said.Belarus and the Russian region have also been cooperating in the fishing industry for a long time. “We have reliable and long-standing partners, for example, Santa Bremor. We know that Belarus has a need to increase supplies of raw white fish and the famous Kamchatka salmon,” noted Yulia Morozova. “Companies in the Russian region are ready to supply Belarus fish products, including prepared ones."The deputy chairman noted good prospects in the tourism sector. “Today this is the fastest growing industry in the region. We are waiting for Belarusian tourists to host us. And we already have the first experience gained as a result of concluding agreements with Belarusian tour operators. Kamchatka residents also respect and highly value the opportunities of Belarus in the field of tourism, including sanatorium-resort holiday,” she added.Yulia Morozova emphasized that the Kamchatka Territory is also interested in Belarusian engineering products. “We have been using Belarusian agricultural and municipal equipment for many years and are ready to increase purchases of agricultural equipment and public transport. Today, under the conditions of sanctions, our mining industry also needs supplies,” said the deputy chairman. In turn, Alexey Bogdanov noted that over the past two years, Belarus and the Kamchatka Territory have increased mutual trade turnover more than threefold. “This is a big breakthrough. Belarusian exports are also growing - plus 30% at the end of last year,” the minister said. “Our agricultural products are popular - meat, canned food, sausages, cheeses, dairy products. In addition, equipment for agricultural production is also supplied , as well as road, municipal, and passenger equipment. In this direction, we intend to expand our interaction."In addition, during the visit of the Kamchatka Territory delegation to Belarus, the topic of logistics was discussed in detail. “This is the most distant region of the Russian Federation, where our cargo by rail takes about 30 days, which is a very long time. We cannot deliver some there due to the shelf life of food products. Therefore, the issue of developing trade through the Northern Sea Route was discussed in detail. This will speed up our mutual supplies, and we will work in this direction in the coming period,” he said.At the meeting, an agreement on twinning and cooperation was signed between the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatka urban district and the administration of the Zavodsky district of Minsk, as well as the protocol of a joint meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and the Kamchatka Territory of the Russian Federation.
