A resident of Vitebsk transferred more than Br1.5 thousand to scammers for a non-existent smartphone. BelTA was informed about this by the Department of Internal Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
On Instagram, a 21-year-old resident of Vitsebsk saw an advertisement for a store selling Apple smartphones. The student wrote to the seller that she wanted to buy a gadget. She was told that due to the heavy workload, she needed to follow the link and continue communicating in the messenger. By clicking on the link, the girl got into the Telegram channel. There was a post that reflected all the information about placing an order. The girl went to a chat with the manager, who subsequently advised her on buying a phone.
The seller said that the iPhone together with the charger will cost Br1545. The girl was satisfied with the price and she placed an order. Before that, a resident of Vitebsk asked the manager to send documents confirming the legality of the store's activities. In response, the girl received a photo of the license, as well as the passport of the head.
Dispelling doubts, she transferred the money to the current account provided by the manager. After that, the seller stopped getting in touch.
Law enforcement officers urge citizens not to make prepaid purchases on social networks and not to transfer money to strangers. "The goods can be purchased cash on delivery through the post office, as well as on trusted Internet sites," the law enforcement officers emphasize.
