Viktor Nikolaikin discussed the election programs of the presidential candidates with the staff of the Vitebsk Meat Processing Plant

Belarus should have a strong presidential power. This is confirmed by the 30-year experience of the country's development as a sovereign and independent state. Therefore, the regular presidential elections in Belarus are a unique opportunity for citizens to participate in determining the future of Belarus.

This position was expressed by the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economic Policy of the House of Representatives, Deputy for the Vitebsk-Gorky District No 17 Viktor Nikolaikin today during a meeting with the labor collective of the Vitebsk Meat Processing Plant.

According to him, over the years of Belarus' existence as a presidential republic, the country has become strong and recognizable in the world, has found reliable friends, and is an example of independent development for many states. Not only the Belarusian experience of preserving sovereignty, but also domestic technologies, goods and services are in demand in the world.

"In the current difficult geopolitical situation, it is necessary to support your country and demonstrate to the whole world that Belarusians are united, even despite the fact that there are different points of view on many current life issues. Of course, participation in the elections is a right, but it is also our civic duty as patriots, which is to be fulfilled on January 26 or during early voting from January 21 to 25," the parliamentarian addressed his fellow countrymen.

Viktor Nikolaikin recalled the main stages of the current presidential election campaign and elaborated on the candidates for the highest state office. On the eve of the meeting, the pre-election programs of all five candidates were published on the pages of two newspapers at once: in "Zvyazda" in Belarusian, and in "Respublik" - in Russian. Their study caused a storm of emotions in Viktor Nikolaikin and prompted him to express his position and invite voters to discuss this topic.

"I recommend everyone to familiarize themselves with the programs in order to make the right and informed choice. After a careful study of the texts, it is obvious to me: only one candidate has a position set out clearly, understandably and realistically, with an analysis of the path traveled and the current situation, as well as a vision of future development," Viktor Nikolaikin shared his impressions and elaborated on the controversial, from his point of view, provisions of the election programs of individual candidates. These are, in particular, the transition to a mixed (majoritarian-proportional) electoral system, when some deputies are elected on the basis of lists from a certain party, the restriction of the electoral rights of some citizens, the transition to a parliamentary republic and some others.

According to the deputy, the experience gained over the years of the country's development as a sovereign and independent state indicates that Belarus should have a strong presidential power. As for the upcoming vote, Viktor Nikolaikin has long made a choice and decided for whom he will vote on January 26.
