The spring conscription has started in the Vitebsk region. Today, more than 100 people left the regional collection point. They will serve in the famous 103rd Vitebsk Airborne Brigade.

Addressing the conscripts, the military commissar of the Vitebsk region, Colonel Dmitry Volfovich, noted that they take responsibility for the security of the country, and in fact, for the peaceful sky above the heads of their loved ones. Serving in the army has never been an easy matter: it is difficult to leave your parents' home and live far from loved ones, to submit to strict discipline, and to comprehend military basics. But it is military service that helps a young man become a real man, a citizen, a patriot of his country. The head of the regional executive committee, Igor Kuznetsov, recalled that the army is the key to national security. He expressed confidence that the feat of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers accomplished during the Great Patriotic War would be a good example for the current generation of soldiers.

The chairman of the regional organization of the Belarusian Union of Officers Sergei Denisov, the chairman of the regional organization of the Belarusian Union of Veterans of the War in Afghanistan Valerian Matskevich, and the mother of the conscript Elena Pavlova spoke to the recruits. A year ago, a brigade soldier, junior sergeant Pavel Vitko, stood on this parade ground in the same way and listened to parting words. During this time, he made three parachute jumps, participated in a combat mission to strengthen the state border and military exercises. Pavel assured his future colleagues that only in the army will they learn what true friendship is. He wished peace of mind to the parents of the conscripts and that they not worry about the food, which in the brigade is tasty and satisfying.

In total, during the spring conscription, the ranks of the Armed Forces and other military formations will be joined by about 1.5 thousand representatives of the Vitebsk region. Photo by Dmitry OSIPOV
