The Prosecutor's Office of the Vitebsk Region, together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, is participating in the republican campaign “Don’t leave children alone!”

The prosecutor's office of the Vitebsk region, together with colleagues from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, is taking part in the republican campaign “Don’t leave children alone!”, dedicated to International Children’s Day.

The purpose of the event is to attract public attention to the problems of children playing pranks with fire, to prevent fires and the death of children in them, to reduce the number of emergency situations involving minors and to ensure their overall safety at home, on the street, in a pond, and so on.
“The issue of ensuring the safety of minors on water bodies is relevant - in 2023, 5 children died as a result of drowning,” noted Daria Kovalenko, official representative of the Vitebsk Region Prosecutor’s Office. - In total, 11 children died from external causes last year in the Vitebsk region. In this regard, we draw the attention of citizens to the need to ensure the safe stay of children at home and on vacation. Teach your children in a timely manner vital rules of behavior and not to leave them unattended.
On the eve of the summer holidays, a representative of the supervisory agency visited secondary school No. 10 named after V.M. Azin in Polotsk, where an employee of the Polotsk Regional State Emergency Service held a dialogue platform with students in grades 6-7 on the topic of preventing child injuries and deaths.

In an accessible form, she told the schoolchildren about the rules of safe behavior. She gave examples from practical activities about the negative consequences of neglecting them, in particular, when crossing roadways, railway tracks, on reservoirs, at heights, near construction sites, etc.
“Life is the most valuable thing given to a person,” Daria Kovalenko told the children. “It’s not always possible to know exactly where danger lurks.” But, knowing and following the norms, rules of behavior, as well as how to act in a dangerous situation, you can avoid many troubles, save your health, the lives of yourself and those around you.

Representative of the Polotsk Regional State Emergency Service Evgeniy Potseluenok taught the children algorithms of actions in the event of various emergency situations. He dwelled in detail on the topic of preventing fires and the death of children in them. Introduced and handed over information leaflets and thematic leaflets.
The guys actively asked questions, discussed dangerous and safe situations with the speakers, how to quickly navigate them and make rational decisions.
At the end of the event, they thanked the guests for the interesting and useful format of the meeting.
