To date, the volume of production is 30% higher than the same indicator of the previous year. To meet the needs of the domestic economy and supplies to foreign markets, it is planned to extract over 2.3 million tons of peat this season.

In the total share of the use of local fuel and energy resources in the republic, peat occupies about 15%. The annual consumption of peat fuel is about 1 million tons, which makes it possible to replace about 450 million m3 of natural gas.

The peat industry is represented by 16 organizations that annually produce more than 1 million tons of fuel products (briquettes, dried peat and lump peat) and more than 100 thousand tons of non-fuel products (nutrient peat soils, high-moor baled peat and composting peat used in agriculture). economy).

The main direction of the sale of peat products is to meet the demand of the domestic market of the country. About 100 thousand tons of products are annually supplied for export.
