Memo on precautions and rules of conduct for the population when detecting explosive objects

Until now, on the territory of the Republic of Belarus - in forests, swamps, ruins of houses and dugouts, when digging ditches and wells, when plowing land, there are mines, aerial bombs, artillery shells, grenades, fuses and other types of ammunition. Most of them have not only retained the ability to explode, but have become even more sensitive to various mechanical stresses and pose a serious danger to the population if they are handled unskillfully and carelessly.

To date, there have been accidents among the population and especially among children of preschool and school age from careless handling of ammunition left over from the war.

The main cause of accidents is non-observance of precautions when detecting explosive objects (attempt to disassemble ammunition and extract explosives from it, striking them, burning them on fires, as well as transferring them from one place to another).

When explosive objects are detected, it is strictly PROHIBITED:

– touch or move them from their place;

– try to disassemble and discharge ammunition;

– heat and strike, hit them;

– bring it indoors, bury it in the ground, throw it into water bodies;

– collect and scrap metal.

In case of detection of explosive objects, it is necessary:

– fence off the place of their location, install clearly visible signs warning of danger with the appropriate inscriptions "DANGER! MINE!" or "DO NOT TOUCH! DANGER!" and, if possible, deploy guards;

– immediately report the found ammunition to the heads of enterprises, schools, departments or to the police, the village Soviet, who are obliged to immediately call the demining group through the district military commissariats or internal affairs bodies and organize the disposal of ammunition.

Citizens! Examine and strictly follow precautions when detecting explosive objects.

Parents! Do not leave children unattended! Do not allow them to touch the detected ammunition.

School principals and teachers! Constantly conduct explanatory work among students on precautions when detecting explosive objects.

Heads of enterprises, institutions, factories! In case of finding ammunition, immediately call the demining group through the military registration and enlistment offices or call the police.

Schoolchildren! If you see a projectile, mine, grenade or other explosive objects, do not touch them, as violation of this can lead to death or injury! Report their whereabouts to the teacher, parents, and police officers.

Remember! With your correct actions and behavior when detecting explosive objects, you will prevent accidents!
