The Vitebsk Regional Center for Medical Rehabilitation uses modern rehabilitation programs and the latest equipment to help combatants.
Over the 30 years of the existence of the regional medical rehabilitation center, more than 75 thousand combatants and their families have undergone rehabilitation treatment there. This figure was announced by the head physician of the institution Vladislav Muzhichenko at an event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Internationalist Soldiers and the 36th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.
"We implement a wide range of rehabilitation programs, including comprehensive programs for diseases of the spine and musculoskeletal system," he said. – A multidisciplinary rehabilitation team participates in the provision of medical care to patients, which, in addition to rehabilitation doctors, includes physiotherapists and physiotherapists. If necessary, a therapist, a neurologist, a psychologist are involved in them. All this allows you to make the rehabilitation process effective and achieve the desired result.
Last year alone, four modern methods were introduced into practice - both physiotherapy and therapeutic exercises. The center has been operating on the basis of the center for six years, and the entire range of interventions that doctors have also tried to introduce into the rehabilitation process, combine with treatment. Therapeutic exercises, for example, are supplemented by a group of qigong breathing exercises.
The fact that the staff of the center keeps up with the times is confirmed by its equipment. In 2024 and less than two months of this year, 15 units of new equipment of the modern generation were received here. These are, for example, a device that expands the range of services using the method of physiotherapy, a robotic simulator with biological feedback, which allows you to more effectively restore impaired functions and, first of all, motor functions.
Today, a rehabilitation center is a modern healthcare institution where it is comfortable to receive treatment and work conveniently. In 2023 and 2024, residential buildings where patients live, as well as doctors' offices, where the bulk of medical interventions are carried out, were completely renovated. This year, the work will continue, and among the most significant objects, the management of the center highlights the repair of the dining room and the reconstruction of the pool.
Both the head physician of the institution Vladislav Muzhichenko, and the chairman of the regional organization of the Belarusian Union of Veterans of the War in Afghanistan Valerian Matskevich, and the patients with whom the journalists spoke were unanimous in their assessment of the state's care for combatants. Alla Averchenko from Minsk, who performed her international duty in Afghanistan, proudly announced that next year she would celebrate her 80th birthday, and in response to exclamations of admiration, she remarked:
"The fact that I look like this is a great merit of the rehabilitation center, which I rightfully call ours.
She was echoed by Alexander Zolotukhin from Brest, who was born in Russia, but at one time began his service and finished in the Belarusian Military District. His business trip to Afghanistan lasted two years. After its completion, as he admits, he received the best birthday gift - on his 25th birthday he flew from Kabul to Tashkent.
"I am undergoing treatment at the center for the third or fourth time," said Alexander, "and I am constantly surprised by the transformations taking place here. I think I will express the general opinion of former internationalist soldiers if I say that we are very grateful to the country's leadership for such a wonderful rehabilitation center, and to its employees for taking care of our health and soulfulness.
At the same time, the staff of the regional center for medical rehabilitation cares not only about the physical health of patients, which was confirmed by the final chord of the event - a concert program from the vocal and instrumental ensemble "Night Birds" from Novopolotsk. This is not the first time that this folk group of the Novopolotsk Department of the Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs performs at the center and is loved by the audience, and its performance is rightfully considered the decoration of any patriotic concert.
