BelTA, Justice Ministry present joint project to highlight Nazi crimes in Belarus during WW2

A presentation of the popular science publication “Archives. Nothing but the truth” took place in the National Library of Belarus on 6 July, BelTA has learned.

The book is the result of joint efforts of the Belarusian Justice Ministry and BelTA to investigate and bring to light little-known facts of the genocide in the territory of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic (BSSR) occupied by the Nazi during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The book was published by BelTA's publishing house in June 2023. It includes newly discovered archive materials that testify to the crimes committed by the Nazi and their accomplices against the civilian population.

Belarusian Justice Minister Sergei Khomenko described the project as an important contribution to the popularization of historic truth, to the patriotic upbringing of the society and thanked BelTA, scientists, and archivists for constructive joint work.

BelTA Director General Irina Akulovich stressed that throughout its 105-year-long history the news agency has been focused on telling the truth about events that happen in Belarus. She remarked that there are plans to translate the book into German and publish it as audio podcasts with subtitles. “We are going to promote this content by all means,” Irina Akulovich remarked.

Chairman of the Education, Culture, and Science Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Marzalyuk pointed out that everyone has to know the information contained in the book. There can be no justification for what the invaders did in Belarusian land.

Belarusian Information Minister Vladimir Pertsov stated that the public demand for truthful history of the Great Patriotic War is on the rise. “It is a pleasure to be present at this event since we have contributed to a great cause,” Vladimir Pertsov noted.
