Villages in Tolochin District receive BP monitors under EU/UNDP project

VITEBSK DISTRICT, 24 July (BelTA) In Tolochin District 70 remote villages with no rural health posts have received blood pressure monitors under the EU/UNDP project Support to Local Development in the Republic of Belarus, the coordinator of this local initiative, the chairperson of the Tolochin district organization of the Belaya Rus public association Alla Kravchenko said at the regional conference to discuss the results of the project in Vitebsk Oblast, BelTA has learned.


Harvest season kicks off in Belarus

MINSK, 16 July (BelTA) The harvest season has started in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 16 July, an estimated 124,600 hectares planted with cereals and leguminous crops were harvested, which is 5.9% of the sown area. This years harvest season arrived in Belarus earlier than in the previous year.

Brest Oblast is currently leading having cropped 20.

Journalists from 11 countries to cover Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) Media personnel from 11 countries have been accredited to work at the 27th edition of the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk, BelTA learned from the Information Ministry.

This year 390 reporters from 126 mass media outlets applied for accreditation.

Among them are 97 people representing 64 foreign mass media outlets from 10 countries, including Russia, Ukraine, China, Israel, Armenia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Serbia and the United States.

Prastora Urban Art Forum to take place in Vitebsk on 22-24 June

VITEBSK, 13 June (BelTA) Prastora Urban Art Forum will take place in Vitebsk on 22-24 June during the City Day celebrations, head of the Center for Urban Projects and Initiatives Prastora Oksana Kuzina told BelTA.

The centerpiece of the forum will be a Smart City hackathon that will bring together IT specialists, designers, urban specialists and environmentalists. The smart city concept seeks to create new jobs and caters to the needs of local residents and visitors.


Indian businessmen praise investment potential of Belarusian special economic zone Bremino-Orsha

VITEBSK, 5 June (BelTA) Indian businessmen think highly of the investment potential of the multimodal industrial and logistics complex Bremino-Orsha in the town of Bolbasovo, Orsha District, Vitebsk Oblast. Members of the Indian delegation shared their views with mass media after visiting the construction site, BelTA has learned.

Ambassador of India to Belarus Sangeeta Bahadur noted: The site is well-positioned from the point of view of logistics.

Estonias Kohtla-Jarve seeks closer ties with Vitebsk Oblast

VITEBSK, 21 May (BelTA) Estonian town of Kohtla-Jarve would like to establish contacts with Vitebsk Oblast, Kohtla-Jarve Mayor Ljudmila Janchenko said as she met with Vitebsk Oblast officials at the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee, BelTA has learnt.

In my view, the most promising areas of cooperation between our regions include culture and education.


Chagalls, European avant-garde artists works on display in Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 28 April (BelTA) The exposition titled as Marc Chagall and Artists of the European Avant-Garde Movement has opened in the Marc Chagall Art Center in Vitebsk, BelTA has learned.

The exposition includes over 100 color and white-and-black lithographs and woodblock prints. The exposition is divided into two parts. The first floor is dedicated to Marc Chagalls lithographs and the second one to works by the artists of the European avant-garde movement, namely Georges Braque, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Fernand Leger, Alberto Giacometti, Antoni Tapies and others.

Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk to host Vologda lace expo

TVER OBLAST, 19 April (BelTA) The world famous Vologda lace may go on display during the Day of the Belarus-Russia Union State during the Slavianski Bazaar festival in Vitebsk, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota told the media, BelTA has learned.

Plans are in place to organize a workshop in lace making by Vologda lace masters and to arrange a catwalk show of the apparel made from Vologda lace and Orsha linen fabrics.


Belarus, St Petersburg secure food export deal for 2018

An agreement on the volume of Belarusian food exports St Petersburg in 2018 was signed at the 10th session of the Belarus-St Petersburg Business Cooperation Council attended by Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov on 28 March, BelTA informs.

The sides signed a roadmap of cooperation in science and technology between the educational and scientific institutions of Belarus and St Petersburg for 2018-201, a memorandum of cooperation between the healthcare committees of Minsk and St Petersburg, and an agreement on cooperation between the Ushachi District Executive Committee (Vitebsk Oblast) and the town of Sestroretsk.


Tentative plans to open two Belarusian-Indian joint ventures by year end to make medications

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) Two Belarusian-Indian joint ventures to make medications may be opened by the end of the year, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Pankaj Saxena.

According to the diplomat, representatives of the pharmaceutical industry of Belarus and India have been able to set up joint ventures to make medications that will sell well in Belarus and other Eurasian Economic Union member states.
