Preparations for the winter stall period are underway in Dubrovenshchina

Autumn has arrived, which means that the transfer of livestock to winter stall maintenance is just around the corner. The productivity of livestock directly depends on the conditions in which the livestock will spend the winter and how it will be fed. During the summer, livestock breeders in the region had to prepare for keeping livestock: bring buildings and structures, equipment into proper condition, make repairs, build and purchase what is necessary for comfortable keeping of animals. Practice shows that timely preparation of farms largely determines the success of the livestock industry.

The regional newspaper correspondent found out from Sergei Nikitin, the head of the agricultural enterprise, how they are preparing for the winter stall period at the Y. Smirnov Agricultural Farm.

— Almost all livestock facilities have already undergone repairs. Where necessary, manure removers, windows, doors, and roofs have been repaired. The premises have also been disinfected, which is of primary importance among veterinary and sanitary measures aimed at preventing and combating contagious diseases of farm animals, — said Sergey Nikolaevich.

We visited the Niva farm, where Yuri Gorbachev has been the foreman for 26 years. On the day of our arrival, work was underway to repair the roof of the barn where the bulls are fattened. After the August hurricane, it had to be re-roofed.

— The work on preparing the barn for winter is almost complete. The stalls and the feed table have been concreted, the bearings and chains in the manure removers have been replaced. All that remains is to disinfect and whitewash the walls inside and outside, — says Yuri Stanislavovich. — Due to the repair work, new animals are not being placed in the barn now, so only 249 bulls are kept tethered here.

It is worth noting that Yuri Gorbachev also runs a farm in the village of Teolin, where 73 bulls are kept.

— The farm workers understand that there are no trifles in the work of a livestock breeder. Therefore, attention is paid to every nuance — the sanitary condition of the premises, the availability of feed, water and mineral supplements, and other points that guarantee that the animals will be kept in comfortable conditions, according to the requirements of regulatory documents. This is evidenced by high weight gains: last month, bulls here gained 840 grams per day, — the head of the agricultural enterprise summed up.
